Mobile Medical Unit (MMU)
As a part of our community health program, trust has launched its flagship “Mobile Medical Unit (MMU)” project across 3 rural locations in Maharashtra. We reach around 60 villages and more than 50 thousand beneficiaries every year. Many of the beneficiaries are from marginalized and vulnerable sections of the society. Through these MMUs trust provide promotive, preventive and primary healthcare services to beneficiaries. Services like doctor’ consultation, medicines and health and hygiene counseling to needy people is provided at community level. This is a donor supported free medical service project for the beneficiaries.
Health Camps in Urban Slums
Trust conducts regular health camps in urban slums of Mumbai. Every health camp is done through team of doctors, nurses, para-medical staffs and community mobilizers to provide medical check-ups, medicines, referral services, and health and hygiene sessions. Most of the vulnerable among slum dwellers like geriatric age group population immensely benefits out of these camps. Identifying non-communicable diseases and symptoms like High Blood Pressure, Diabetes, Cataract, lump or tumor in the body helps in initiating supportive treatment and referral to nearest tertiary care centers through these camps.
Affordable Health Clinics
Trust aims to start model “Affordable Health Clinics” in urban slums for the benefit of needy community to access affordable primary health care and ensure minimum burden is placed on secondary and tertiary healthcare facilities of the country. These clinics shall provide doctor’ consultation, medicines, diagnostic facilities and generic pharmacy services under one roof. This shall reduce health expenses of the community and will minimize out of pocket expenses on secondary and tertiary care when the primary care is cost prohibitive for majority of the marginalized community.
